From our base in Manchester, UK, Wordsworks provides a global proofreading service for international law firm, Reed Smith LLP.
Reed Smith has more than 30 offices across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the firm employs more than 1,500 lawyers and serves thousands of clients across the globe.
Like many professional services firms, Reed Smith publishes a regular flow of information for its clients and other stakeholders, ranging from case updates and tender proposals to press releases and insight articles. These are generally written internally by the relevant team, but, given the nature of a global firm, the quality and style can vary significantly.
Conscious of the need to ensure the firm communicated in a consistent, coherent style to its disparate audiences around the world, in 2015 Reed Smith engaged Wordsworks as its proofreading partner, to provide an on-call proofreading service for Reed Smith people across the globe.
Anyone with a document that needs checking sends it to our dedicated proofreading mailbox, to be picked up by one of our specialist proofreading team operating out of both the UK and USA.
One of our team will then proofread the document for typos, grammar and other errors. Crucially, they will also check the style conforms to the extensive Reed Smith house style guide (which we helped to create).
We’ll then return it to the sender in line with their requested deadline. This ensures that no matter where they are based, customers receive a consistent, high-quality experience when engaging with the firm’s written material.
Wordsworks is also on the firm’s copywriting panel, supporting its team on publications such as its annual responsible business report.
