Working closely with Brunswick Group in Abu Dhabi, Wordsworks copywriting in Manchester was commissioned to develop the content for Abu Dhabi Commercial Banks's 2023 annual report.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) is one of the largest banks in the UAE. It employs more than 5,000 people and serves over 1.5 million customers across the Middle East. As a high-profile listed company, it publishes a comprehensive annual report and accounts every year. 

Stage one of this four-month project involved reviewing and distilling the bank’s main activities, announcements and achievements over the 2023 financial year to identify key topics and messages. This long-list of themes was sense-checked with the bank’s internal investor relations team, which supplied additional details and supporting information.

Stage two: this information was used to draft questions for 19 face-to-face interviews in Abu Dhabi with members of the bank’s senior management team, including the CEO, CFO and COO. All interviews were recorded and transcribed.

Stage three: having captured this information, Wordsworks copywriting drafted all the content for the annual report, split across 30+ chapters and more than 200,000 words. This included case studies, testimonials, pull-quotes and key stats.

Stage four involved multiple rounds of amends and feedback from internal stakeholders over several weeks until all content was approved.

Stage five: once all the text was typeset into a fully designed document, our specialist proofreading team provided a final check to catch any last-minute typos, errors and inconsistencies. The report was published in March 2024 and was enthusiastically received by the bank and its stakeholders.
